According to sources, participants of a meeting convened by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, agreed that a recent spate of suicide bombings in different parts of the country had roots in South Waziristan and suicide bombings and terrorist attacks could not be curbed without crushing terrorists’ leaders hiding in tribal areas.
Pakistan's Chief of the Army Staff, General Parvez Kayani briefed the political leadership about the security situation in the country. In the meantime, police chief of Pakistan cit Peshwar, Liaquat Ali Khan told the journalists that a woman was involved in the Friday's suicide attack against a police station.
The bombings targeted a heavily fortified police station in Peshawar.
One attacker drove a car filled with explosives to the main gate of the station, as a motorcycle carrying a man and a woman pulled up behind it, said the Peshawar police chief.
The woman jumped off and ran toward a nearby housing complex where Army officers live, while the man smashed the motorcycle into the car, which exploded into a huge fireball, he said.
