Pakistan’s city of flowers becomes city of barricades

Peshawar, the capital city of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province that was once known as the city of flowers, has virtually turned into a city of barricades because of the unabating unrest in the adjoining tribal areas.

A notice displayed at one of the gates of Qayyum Stadium Sports Complex in the upscale Saddar neighbourhood in this northwest Pakistani city announces closure of the gate while citing the prevailing security situation as a reason for this and asking the visitors to use the main gate instead.

This shows the real picture of the state of life in Peshawar, one of the areas of the country which are the worst-affected by the ongoing war on terror and its repercussions haunting the country and particularly this city.
