Pakistan no doubt doesn’t like the fact that American drones are popping off three and four Haqqani insurgent-terrorist leaders at a time on their soil.  Apparently, Pakistan has no control over North Waziristan, which says its government is failing. Or, Pakistan doesn’t mind that Haqqani’s are menacing Afghanistan.

At any rate, think of the high cost to Americans to carry out these missions to pop off a few targets at a time. Sure, the technique is effective, but what is the return on investment to the USA in the near and long run? Is this sustainable and desirable foreign policy?

Isn't it time that Afghanistan secure its own borders?

U.S. ramps up attacks against Haqqani network

The Obama administration has launched the opening salvos of a new, more aggressive approach toward an Afghan insurgent group it charges is supported by Pakistan’s government, senior administration officials said. A CIA drone Thursday killed three members of the Haqqani network, including a senior official, and additional strikes Friday left four insurgents dead.

The decision to strike at targets in the Pakistani city of Miran Shah was made at a National Security Council meeting chaired by President Obama two weeks ago and was intended to “send a signal” that the United States would no longer tolerate a safe haven for the most lethal enemy of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, or Pakistan’s backing for it, said one of several U.S. officials who spoke about internal deliberations on condition of anonymity.

Maybe a better strategy is to set up a new city in Afghanistan along the Pakistan border, call it Rambo. Rambo will be populated with American soldiers and their families who have become acclimated to the climate and scenery. The community will be funded by American drug companies that will produce poppy-derived drugs that are home grown in the region.

Afghans will provide local services and Americans will establish a business hub for the self-defended community.

Dear Yankee Jim

You have a good vision regarding the ongoing conflict of religious terrorism. I think it is a global issue not limited to Pakistan and Afghanistan. This issue needs attention of the world community. People throughout the world including Pakistan are suffering due to this menace.

Intellectual of the world should join hands and search out the best solution of the problems. In the current foreign policy I think an only symptom is treated and ignoring the root causes of the disease.

We appreciate your suggestion regarding the establishment of a new City in Afghanistan.
