The Punjab Mineral Department in Pakistan has ordered shut the biggest salt mine of Asia located in the centre of the Salt Range in the northeast of the country, terming it dangerous.

The order was passed during a visit of the Rawalpindi Mines Inspector Dilshad Baloch to the salt mine Thursday where two labourers were killed on August 26 and 30 due to lack of safety measures. Five labourers were killed last year. He said the mine should be closed as it was not safe for workers.
