The tribal areas have virtually been handed over to Taliban militants. In a swap for its ambassador to Afghanistan Pakistan has decided to release some dreaded terrorists.

The government of North West Frontier Province released one of the controvercial religious leader Sufi Muhammad on Monday, who was in jail on various charges. Sufi Muhammad has led the people of Malakand division in their jihad against the US forces in Afghanistan when the US forces lauched attack on Afghanistan.

According to an earlier report of The News International, Federal Minister for Cultural and Youth Affairs Khawaja Saad Rafiq has said the government has ordered for halting the entire military operation and the withdrawal of forces from the tribal areas.

Talking to local TV channel, Saad Rafiq said the intensity of the military operation had been lowered to a great extent following the February 18 polls, while the government had now ordered for winding up the entire operation. He said the resolution for the restoration of the judges would be presented in parliament within the next two weeks and no constitutional package would be brought along with it.
