After Pakistan Army Chief  General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani threatned US forces from entering Pakistan territory, today Pakistan foces have struck against US forces to stop them from entering their territory.

President George Bush has described the Afghan-Pakistan border area as a frontline in the war on terror and given permission for incursions by Nato forces in Pakistan territory

Pakistani troops have fired shots into the air to stop US troops crossing into the South Waziristan region of Pakistan, local officials say.

Reports say seven US helicopters landed on the Afghan side of the border and US troops then tried to cross the border.

South Waziristan is one of the main areas from which Islamist militants launch attacks into Afghanistan.

The incident comes amid growing anger in Pakistan over US attacks along the border region.

Other reports are that tribesmen fired at US troops.  Pakistan and US military appear to be operating in alliance elsewhere in Pakistan, so if Pakistan military fired on US troops here it might indicate a breakdown of authority in the Pakistan military.
