Homosexuality can be punished by death in Pakistan, though there are a number of top Pakistanis whose sexual orientation is well-known.

One of the most prominent gays in Pakistan today is the country's present representative to the United Nations, Hussain Haroon. Likewise his brother Hameed Haroon, who runs the Dawn newspaper is also gay. Among the two, Hameed is said to be more flamboyant than Hussain.

About 26 years ago I was hired to work for the evening "STAR" ...a paper owned by Hameed Haroon. I was with the paper for a year and I can vouch for the flamboyancy of its owner ! I was a young person from a conservative background and it totally flabbergasted me to discover blatant flaming gay repute of  my boss. I am ofcourse more comfortable with it now ..having spent the last 26 years in America ..a lesson learned in tolerance.
