Pakistan will be looking to end their tour of Zimbabwe on a victorious note when they take on the hosts in the second and final Test getting underway in Harare from Tuesday (today).
After conceding a lead to the minnows, Pakistan bounced back with a vengeance to record a big win in the opening Test and now captain Misbah-ul-Haq will be expecting his team to win the brief series 2-0 comprehensively.
Pakistan will begin as hot favourites to do that but Misbah and his men will have to make sure that they don’t become complacent against Zimbabwe, a side desperate for a Test win.
The hosts took a sizeable first-innings lead in the first Test but were floored by a match-winning double century from the seasoned Younis Khan.
Pakistan’s biggest strength once again will be their spin duo of Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman, who shared 15 wickets between them in the first Test.
Things could be even worse for the home batters as the pitch at the Harare sports club is expected to be more spin friendly this time.
However, it has not been a happy story for all visiting players. Vice-captain Mohammad Hafeez has been going through an awful run of form with the bat in the longer format of the game. The all-rounder has averaged just 8.00 with the bat in Tests this year and after he flopped in the series opener last week, critics are asking the team management to drop him from the playing eleven for the second Test.
