Baitullah Mehsud and Hakimullah Mehsud are still alive, say aides to the Pakistan Taliban leaders.
The unconfirmed comments come a week after the US military allegedly killed the top Taliban commanders in Pakistan using a missile drone. The attack killed Baitullah's second wife but according to the Taliban the commanders escaped.
The comments by Hakimullah Mehsud compounded confusion that has surrounded Mehsud's reported death in a U.S. missile attack last week."Both I and our amir (leader) Baitullah Mehsud are alive," Hakimullah Mehsud told Reuters by telephone from an undisclosed location.
