The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani led government has lost majority in the parliament with its main ally Muttaheda Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) decision to withdraw support, reports Times Now television channel.

Just a fortnight ago the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman withdrew its support to the 32-month old coalition following the sacking of its minister for his alleged involvement in a Haj scam.

In the 342 member assembly, Gilani needs the support of 172 members to remain on the saddle.  The withdrawal of support by the MQM leaves the PPP led government with 160 members which is twelve short of the majority.
