The only answer to this stupidity must
be that Hamas leaders are idiots. They
cannot seriously harm Israel. 2/3 of Gaza
industry is destroyed and Israel may destroy
the rest if any Israelis are killed.
Outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert convened his "security Cabinet" on Wednesday but wouldn't comment on what options were under discussion.
The end of the truce Friday and the subsequent resumption of hostilities has increased pressure on the government to act decisively against the threat on Israel's southern flank.
But military commanders generally acknowledge that a full-scale retaking of Gaza, from which Israel withdrew its settlers and troops in 2005, would be complicated and bloody. And Olmert is a lame duck, serving until national elections Feb. 10 to choose his successor.

I would try to get rid of Hamas.
I am not judging who is right or wrong in this, probably they share the blame.
Hamas is the problem, not Israel, not Palestinian people. For the next 50 years Israel cannot be defeated by Arabs. If Israel wanted to they could level Gaza in a month. Hamas is only asking for future attacks, worse ones, by launching minor cross border attacks which could provoke a harsh Israeli attack.
Observe the different living standards in Gaza and the West Bank, then ask why.
