Pamela Laverne Long, a "person of interest" in the murder of Byrd and Melanie Billings, the "super parents" of 16 children, many of whom were special-needs, turned herself in for questioning on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. According to Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan, Long returned to Florida with a police escort, after her photo was displayed on national television at a news conference.

"She is not in custody. She is coming back of her own volition." The sheriff said Long is with her lawyer and following another police car to meet with his investigators.

Long is the landlord and an alleged family friend of Leonard Gonzales Jr., who is believed to be one of the principle people involved in the Billings murder. She is 47 years old and from Georgia. Long was charged with felony grand theft in 1988, to which she pleaded guilty after it was dropped to a misdemeanor.

The potential involvement of Long adds to a growing list of people who contributed to killing Byrd and Melanie Billings; on Tuesday, July 14, seven people were arrested in connection with the double murder.

Seven suspects are already in custody and Morgan said there were two other persons of interest, including Long, in what he called a "perfect executed" murder. The other person of interest was not identified, but police believe it was his or her job to disable the Billings' elaborate surveillance system, but failed to do so.

I am so happy that they caught the people who have done this crime.    I pray that the court system does justice to  the people and they get what they deserve.

It just goes to show how ignorant, foolish, selfish, greedy and imoral people have become! To do what these people have done also shows how far from GOD man has truly fallen!!!

Once again, two good people who were trying to do the right thing with unwanted children were targets of these predators. I guess nothing is sacred anymore. 2 people dead for some guns and a safe. If there was any money in it, the take between 8 people would be incredibly small. The article said it was a "perfectly executed murder". Well, it couldn't have been too perfect, they all got caught. That's the problem with today's world. Everybody is a wanna-be. Now 2 people are dead. Goes to show that stupid people should not try to be criminals. What a waste of human life. I hope they truly get what they deserve.
