Paralympics 2010: Closing Ceremonies To Be Broadcast Live By CTV
Paralympics To Enjoy More Live Coverage
Canadian Olympic broadcast rights holder CTV has decided to broadcast the Closing Ceremonies of the 2010 Paralympic Games live. The Opening Ceremonies of the X Winter Paralympic Games were not aired live. Instead, CTV decided to air the Opening Ceremonies the next day. The residents of British Columbia were the only ones watching the Opening Ceremonies live. Many Canadian viewers were disappointed that CTV did not do a live telecast of the Opening Ceremonies and tuned in to watch live video streams online instead.

However, due to the overwhelming popularity and support for the Paralympic Winter Games among Canadians, CTV decided to carry Closing Ceremonies live. In addition, CTV revealed that the ratings from the live coverage in British Columbia and the and tape-delayed broadcast across Canada were strong, reaching 1.4 million viewers.
Originally, CTV did not schedule to broadcast the Closing Ceremonies on Sunday, March 21. However, the broadcaster is now promising live coverage of the ceremonies in both English and French at 7 PM PT/ 10 PM ET. The broadcast of the Closing Ceremonies will bring up the total number of hours of Paralympic coverage on CTV to 60, which the network says surpasses previous commitments by any other Canadian broadcaster. CTV is also set to broadcast gold medal sledge hockey game live on Saturday.
