Update: 7:41 pm EDT
Photos and video coverage of the Parents' Rights Constitutional Amendment Conference are now available at Representative Pete Hoekstra's website, here and here.
---
Update: 5:29 pm EDT
I had the privilege of speaking to Representative Pete Hoekstra's Press Secretary, Dave Yonkman, who indicated that photos, and hopefully an audio of the event, will be posted by the end of the day at Representative Pete Hoekstra's website and that of Parents' Rights.
Further updates will be posted when they become available.
-----
This afternoon at 3:00 (EDT), Representative Pete Hoekstra (MI) and Senator Jim DeMint (SC) will hold a joint press conference at Upper Senate Park, next to the Russell Office Building in Washington, D.C., to announce the introduction of the Parental Rights Amendment in both houses of Congress.
Only a constitutional amendment will ensure that the courts of our nation protect the fundamental right of parents to raise their children. And only a constitutional amendment will override international law that seeks to undermine the parental role. As the only complete solution to the danger confronting the child-parent relationship, the Parental Rights Amendment will place current Supreme Court doctrine protecting parental rights into the explicit text of the Constitution. Only the Parental Rights Amendment completely eliminates all threats to the child-parent relationship. It is the only comprehensive response to the attack on parental rights across our nation.
Congressman Hoekstra first introduced H.J.Res.97 in June 2008 to the 110th Session of Congress proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the US relating to parental rights. The resolution was not reported on by the Committee or voted on by the House or Senate. The resolution has been re-entered to the 111th Session of Congress as H.J. Res 42.
There are currently 71 U.S. House of Representative members, including lead sponsor Rep. Hoekstra who have committed to sponsor the Parental Rights Amendment; both the draft and annotated version are available at the source.
ParentalRights.org is asking that if your Representative is on the list, you might want to consider a letter of thanks to him or her for supporting the Amendment. However, it is also asking "...that you do not call Representatives who are already on the list of sponsors."
If your Representative is not on list, you might want to consider calling or emailing them and urge them to become a sponsor of the Parental Rights Amendment.
You can find your Congressman's contact information by submitting your zip code, here.

I dread to think! on this issue. Here in the UK the best schools are located in the best Zip codes.A lot of parents could not get their children into their prefered schools therefore moved house to resolve the problem it has become a post code lottery. As for medication I believe the parent should have the right to decide what is best for their child.A lot of young parents now are more into herbal cures rather than chemical meds. I also believe we lose a certain amount of control as soon as our kids attend school. The school playground can be a hard cruel learning lesson to children.Again like everything is this world it is down to money,

So does all this make a difference to Madonna's current attempted Adoption case, I wonder. I watched BBC yesterday and they interviewed a young construction worker who had been taken from Africa and adopted. He is one of many who claim are not satisfied with being away from their homes, friends and family and have a sense of something missing from their lives.

Thank you, Fred! And thank you for the question and the additional information! I must confess however that, at the moment, I don't have any answers for you! Thanks again!

Great work Rhonda. That would be a rather big change if passed.

Thank you, Paschen! But something definitely just went wrong -- the requests are now empty on the videos and if you will notice, my highlighted material is missing! I'll have to work on it!

Rhonda, not an amendment, but we need something to protect the, as of yet, non-existent rights of grandparents as well.
Thanks for the article.

Roy, I'm not sure what you mean by, "not an amendment"?

Roy, a link to Grandparents' Rights - Grandparent Visitation Rights in the United States -- yes, an area that needs 'work'.

Support Parental Rights? JOIN (and contact) thousands of others listed for states and counties all across the United States, who also are fully supporting the Parental Rights Amendment. FIND local support to help in YOUR child custody case, and soo much more:

ALSO, did you KNOW? "Parents Day" is an official federal holiday, this year on Sunday, July 26th. Connect to the local Parents Day rallies and events in YOUR area:

Tally-Ho for The American Family! It's time to get Government out of families. The Federal Government has *no* constitutional authority being involved in The Family, as that area belongs exclusively to the States. Moreover, a VERY LARGE chunk of the annual Federal Budget is spent micromanaging and destroying the American family on a daily basis, and YOU get to pay dearly for that nonsense, now, and your children's children will probably have to pay even more for it, later.

Torm Howse (not verified), thank you very much for stopping by and providing the additional information and links to United Civil Rights Councils of America and Parents'Day. I had no idea that Parents' Day is an official federal holiday. Thanks again!
