Some passengers of the airbus have been injured after firecrackers were let off on board a packed plane in Detroit.

A Delta Airlines official said a passenger set off the devices at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, causing a commotion and some injuries.

At least one passenger has been taken to hospital.

Delta spokeswoman Susan Elliott said Delta Flight 253, an Airbus 330 carrying 278 passengers, was arriving in Detroit from Amsterdam.

Elliott said the passenger was immediately subdued. She had no details on injuries.An FBI spokeswoman in Detroit said the incident was being investigated.
