I really think this wouldn't be such a bad place to be stranded.
Over 170 passengers were trapped for hours on the 541-foot tall Singapore Flyer observation wheel last week.

I do not think I could deal with it. I might agree to go on it under duress (fear of heights) and then to be surprised by having to stay there for hours would be tragic.
the structure is actually considered somewhat different than a ferris wheel:
"Singapore Flyer, a giant observation wheel, belongs to a completely different generation from the traditional ferris wheels."
