Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a baby with a member of his household staff, and that is what sentMaria Shriver packing ... and right into the office of a powerful financial adviser to get her affairs in order to end her marriage, TMZ has learned.
Sources say Maria was distraught after learning Arnold pulled a John Edwards. The baby mama worked for the family for two decades, retired and received a severance package, according to the L.A. Times.
The baby was born more than a decade ago, but until recently Maria thought the father was the woman's husband at the time.
Schwarzenegger told The Times, "After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago. I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry."
Maria has no comment.
TMZ heard about the baby 5 days ago, but everyone in the Schwarzenegger camp was denying it. But sources told us Maria was "completely distraught" yet determined to move on with her life. She has not pulled the trigger to end her marriage on the legal side, but she has been working with a very powerful financial adviser who has been helping her position herself for a divorce.
We believe -- though have not confirmed -- there is a prenup, but the couple has been together so long the effectiveness of it is problematic.”

Breaking up over a ten year old issue? Perhaps it isn't the real issue, but suitable to a moral outrage where maybe the real issue has none of the drama necessary for a big payday.

just a little disappointed in the 'lovable big-oaf' .. sounds pretty typical for a red-blooded American (oops, i mean Austrian) male .. hey, i wonder if his way-of-thinking results from the fact he's from the uber-race like Hitler (a sad joke - sorry) 8| sorry .. yea, he shoulda fessed a long time ago Maria - i apologize for him .. wonder if i can do that .. can a half-German male apologize for an Austrian male who got his maid pregnant 10 years ago? maybe if Maria and i were sitting next to each other in a bar .. wait, would i even want that scenario? (no offense Maria) .. wow, i'd better shut up before i really put my foot in deeper .. at least she retired with a package (or two;) (or three if you count Arnold's) 8| .. hey, come on, Arnold is better than that French guy who raped the cleaning girl .. so does it come down to France vs Austria? or how much power you have in each society? maybe it's your perception of your power that dictates your 'freedom to do anything' .. Arnold at least realized he should support the girl he nailed (and knocked up) while the French guy just wanted to bail before he got caught.. these days, i'm sure glad paw decided to figure out his ancestors were German - not French 8| no offense Frenchies ;)~ i'm sure none taken.. seein' grampa-Arnold in the media just after my stand-up-script above then later pics of his maid/mistress lets me know it must have been true-love (or something like it) so based on pure appearance, what an idiot to chuck Maria for the maid. hey Arnold, now that Maria's available, would you be so jealous if i hit on her? what am i thinking: what's good for the gander..
