Charles Manson Follower Patricia Krenwinkel Denied Parole for 13th Time

63-year-old Patricia Krenwinkel, convicted along with other members of the Manson Family for the Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969, was denied parole for a 13th time. Patricia Krenwinkel was convicted on seven counts of first-degree murder, having admitted during her trial to chasing down and stabbing Folger's Coffee heiress Abigail Folger.

In denying parole to Patricia Krenwinkel, the parole board stated that the crimes were still relevant in the public mind, and that releasing Krenwinkel would in turn generate public fear.

Patricia Krenwinkel has been incarcerated at the California Institution for Women, a state prison in Corona. Charles Manson, who orchestrated the Tate-LaBianca murders, is serving a life sentence in Corcoran State Prison.

The two-member parole panel made clear yesterday it was the horror of the Manson killings, among the most notorious of the 20th century, that led them to reject the bid for parole in spite of Patricia Krenwinkel's efforts to change her life.
