Patrick Joyce: Firefighter Killed in Yonkers Fire

A firefighter was killed battling a Yonkers house fire early this morning. Patrick Joyce died at 2am local time, while two other firefighters, Joseph Murray and William Kanych, are hospitalized in serious condition.

The firefighters were told that there were people trapped on the upper floor of the house at 148 Waverly Street in Yonkers, but none were found. The fire is being treated as suspicious.

Yonkers Mayor Philip A. Amicone says Firefighter Patrick Joyce died about 2 a.m. Amicone says Joyce, a 16-year veteran, leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.
