It's hard to believe that in the top ranks of a Modern Police Institution an old song like "racism" still plays its tune. But it's that true as its very own officers tell the story.
Chief Constable Fuller said he himself had fallen prey to racism, with people having tried to block past promotions.
Chief Constable Fuller is England's first black chief constable and has been talked of as a possible successor to Sir Ian.
The third in command at the Met, and its most senior Asian officer, Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, has said outgoing Metropolitan Police Chief Sir Ian Blair discriminated against him because of his race and religion.
The assistant commissioner was put on gardening leave after going public with his claims.
Now there is a new controversy is now raised for the Paul and Harry show of the BBC network. It was a certain episode that showed a Filipina maid ordered to wave her butt to a "northerner".
The script goes as follows:
"OUR CHUMS ON THE ROAD WANNA SEE IF WE COULD MATE THEIR FILIPINA MAID WITH OUR NORTHERNER..."
"COME ON CLIVE MOUNT HER (REFERING TO THE FILIPINA MAID)!"
"YOU! YOU!(REFERING TO THE FILIPINA) PRESENT YOUR REAR !"
This really made news in the Philippines even making some congressmen and women react against the show even labelingit as "racism". UK ambassador to the Philippines pointed out that BBC was independent of the UK government.
"Like the Philippines, the UK respects freedom of expression and the free exchange of ideas. The BBC has editorial independence, and views expressed/portrayed by the BBC are completely independent from those of the UK government," the ambassador said in an official statement released by the embassy.
Racism is an old disease that eats up every good thing humanity can offer. It is really a critical issue when sometimes comedy is that offensive to others. Learning to watch our words would give us respect we want others to show us.
I've provided the link of the episode below. I wanna hear what you guys think.
