A pause for peace? Georgia vs Russia
Russia obviously hates being told what to do and USA did just that, even to a point of great embarrassment of making Russia to be seen as the bad boy. Now this pause is giving President Saakashvili time to crow:Quote from yesterdays erasianet article: “Some officials describe the pattern of movement as inexplicable, suggesting that Russian forces wish merely to intimidate. Others fear that their soldiers could be settling down for the long term, the agreement with President Saakashvili notwithstanding.”
Quote from yester days erasianet article: “Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said that Russian commanders in Georgia had told him that they have only two options remaining: "to move toward Tbilisi, or to pull back." Should the former come to pass, Saakashvili vowed to put up a desperate fight to protect the capital.
In an earlier interview, State Minister for Territorial Integration Temur Iakobashvili deemed any such Russian move on Tbilisi "mad and irresponsible."
"They understand that moving to Tbilisi will be suicidal for the Russian state," Iakobashvili said, in reference to Russian forces. "Militarily, they’re very vulnerable, and they know it. They’re spread around the whole Georgia. They have no base."
The Russian certainly know they are not vulnerable and are holding all the cards and the Georgians know it. The Russian have Saakashvili fenced in and it does not take much to realize that he is very scared. I hope he is as this very stupid man has nearly started World war three. I would be very interested to find out what American group granted Saakashvili a scholarship in the USA, its my bet that all the documents are stamped CIA?
