This is socialist agriculture, western Mass style. Members of the Food Bank Farm buy shares and get organic veg (50% of what's grown, divided among the shareholders) from June to December, and the other 50% of the harvest goes to the Western Massachusetts Food Bank for distribution to low-income families and programs. Most of the produce is picked for us, but there are also U-Pick crops: peas, herbs, strawberries, flowers, beans, okra, plum tomatoes, etc. This year's peas look like they're doing really well.
