Peace of Bajaur Agency Shattered Again As Suicide Blast Kills 50

Terrorists chosen the Christmas Day for carrying a suicide attack in Bajaur Agency, tribal areas situated on Pak-Afghan border. According to initial reports, more than 50 people were killed in the blast and a large number have been injured. Some 1500 people were present in front of WFP food distribution hub were present when a suicide bomber has blown himself among them. Then there was terror and fear. People were seen fleeing for saving their lives, but still a large number of people have been killed.

So far no rescue operation has been carried in the areas as the officials were busy in games being held in Peshawar. Some critical victims of the blast were shifted to Peshawar for treatment. This is the second attack during a few days.

At least 43 persons were killed and 72 others injured when a female suicide bomber detonated her suicide vest in front of the office of World Food Program (WFP) in Khar, the agency Headquarter of Bajaur Agency on Saturday, official sources said.

There were 300 to 400 people waiting outside the WFP office in Khar to receive ration when a female suicide attacker appeared to be in her 23, hurled a hand grenade and then detonated the explosive’s vest near the crowd, local media said while quoting levies personnel present there.

As a result, 43 people including three children were killed and 72 others sustained serious injuries. The incident took place about 8:40am. 

After the blast, the rescue teams, local administration and army personnel reached the site and shifted the injured and bodies to Agency Headquarter Hospital where emergency was declared.

Hospital sources said that injured people were flown to Peshawar through Army helicopters and said that death toll could further increase as some injured were in critical condition. 

After the incident, security forces and levies personnel cordoned off the area and started search operation to net the culprits.

However, no group has claimed the responsibly of this deadly blast.

The political administration said that 600 to 700 people come daily at the WFP distribution point to receive ration.

President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani strongly condemned the attack and termed it cowardly action of anti-state elements.

The Prime Minister deplored the loss of precious lives in the blast.

He said that war against terrorism should be continued till its logical end and militants would never be spared at any cost.

He directed the authorities for provision of best health facilities to the injured.
