The United Nations has stated that leaders of the Greek and the Turkish Cypriot communities have agreed to resume reunification talks on the 3 September.
Greek Cypriot leader, Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat both came to this agreement after meeting for two hours in the UN-controlled buffer zone dividing the island.
The announcement came after Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat met for two hours in the UN-controlled buffer zone which divides the island.
This follows the stagnation of talks between the two communities since the Greek Cypriots rejected a UN peace plan supported by Turkish Cypriots.

Rauf Denktaş is a great leader, really. He wants to keep rights of Turks and Muslims. Many years ago, Greeks arrested him and he knows their equity. I believe him, but unfortunately his economic politics are not good and North Cyprus couldn't develop.

On the other hand, Turks of Cyprus couldn't choose true way and when Rauf Denktaş couldn't do anything, they wanted different politicans. Finally, a leader who is leftist came to administration. I think, Rauf Denktaş was better than him. Mehmet Ali Talat can't declare own nationality and if a person can't declare own nationality, s/he can't keep rights of own side.
