Toronto - Tamil protests shut down University Avenue with a massive protest outside of the United States consulate. It is expected to last until Wednesday. Various chants pleading for President Barack Obama as well as Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to intervene in what Tamils say is genocide.

Police were on hand to observe and maintain crowd control. There were no reported incidents.
