Pepsi IPL 2013 Match 52: RR vs DD Live Scorecard
A new-look Delhi Daredevils chose to bat after winning the toss against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where Rajasthan have won each of their six games so far, on Tuesday (May 7) afternoon in their Pepsi Indian Premier League 2013 encounter.
Delhi, who have only six points from 11 games, are out of the running for a spot in the playoffs, and they made six changes to the side that was bowled out for 80 by Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 4. Rajasthan made only two changes to the side that beat Pune Warriors India by five wickets on Sunday, bringing back Shaun Tait and handing Pravin Tambe, the 42-year-old legspinner, his first IPL game; Kevon Cooper and Ajit Chandila were left out.
Ben Rohrer, who had been granted leave to get married, returned to the Delhi side. Also back was Morne Morkel, while Jeevan Mendis and Johan Botha were dropped from the playing XI.
“We need to play for pride and win as many matches as we can,” said Mahela Jayawardene, the Delhi captain. Jayawardene said the pitch looked a good one and Delhi wanted to bat and put up runs on the board first.
Rahul Dravid, the Rajasthan captain, agreed with Jayawardene about the pitch, but said he would have opted to field in any case. “It’s come to a stage in the tournament where rest has become more important than practice. Starting at 4pm here is never ideal, but that’s the way it is. We like to chase in the day games,” said Dravid.
Rajasthan are currently part of a top half of the points table where four teams have 14 points. A win today will help them break free of the clutter and move into sole second position, behind Chennai Super Kings, who have 18 points.
