Pepsi IPL 2013 Match 58: PWI vs MI Live Scorecard
Glenn Maxwell got his first game for Mumbai Indians in Pepsi Indian Premier League 2013, replacing Kieron Pollard, as Pune Warriors India won the toss and decided to bat first at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune on Saturday (May 11).
Pune made five changes to their side, bringing in Abhishek Nayar, Manish Pandey, Ashok Dinda, Kane Richardson and Ajantha Mendis.
Explaining his decision to bat first, Aaron Finch, the Pune captain, said, “It is a pretty good wicket and looks to be dry underneath. Hopefully we can get some runs and defend it.”
One of the key aspects of Mumbai’s campaign this season has been their batting and Rohit Sharma, the captain, was hopeful that the good streak would continue. “We have discussed in the team meeting about how we need to go about the batting. It is not a problem,” he said. “It is just that everybody needs to chip in and make contributions.”
Mumbai are currently third on the points table. A win will take their tally to 18 points and put them on par with Royal Challengers Bangalore, taking them a step closer to the playoffs.
Mumbai, on the back of Sachin Tendulkar’s 48, beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs in their last encounter, while Pune went down to Kolkata by 46 runs for their 11th loss of the year. Mumbai had beaten Pune by 41 runs in their first meeting this year.
