Pepsi IPL 2013 Match 61: RR vs CSK Live Scorecard
Rahul Dravid, the Rajasthan Royals captain, won the toss and chose to bowl first in their crucial Pepsi Indian Premier clash against Chennai Super Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday (May 12).
Dravid named two changes to his side. Stuart Binny returned from injury and Vikramjeet Malik, the Himachal Pradesh medium pacer, was handed his first match of the season. They came in for S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Chennai captain, said his team was unchanged.
Rajasthan come into the game on the back of three consecutive victories, the last of which came away to Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets. However, this is a crucial game as the race for a playoff spot heats up, and Dravid explained his decision to chase. “We like chasing, we have chased well this year,” he said. “When we know the target on the board, I feel our batsman construct the innings much better. It isn’t based on the opposition.”
Chennai, meanwhile, are the only team so far to hit the 20-point mark and will look to take a massive step to the playoffs against Rajasthan. Dhoni admitted he’d have liked to bowl first as well, but wasn’t too disheartened with the outcome. “We were looking to bowl first, but not disappointed,” he said. “It looks like a good wicket, and seems like it won’t change too much. So, we’ll look to set a target and defend it.”
