Pepsi IPL 2013 Match 72: SRH vs KKR Live Scorecard
Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on Sunday (May 19) in the last league match of the Pepsi Indian Premier League 2013.
While Kolkata will be playing for pride and not much else, Hyderabad face a must-win situation if they are to qualify for the playoffs. However, they were dealt a slow with Ishant Sharma being ruled out of the game due to an illness, which meant the inexperienced Anand Rajan was drafted in.
Despite that, Cameron White, the captain, was buoyant and confident of his team’s chances going into the game. “Yes, it’s a big game. The good thing about it is everything is in our hands, (though) we were hoping for the other result last night,” he said, referring to Royal Challengers Bangalore’s win over Chennai Super Kings.
“But if we win we’re through,” added White. “When we had four games to go, we had to win three of those, and nothing has changed in terms of preparation for us. All we can do is stick to our game plan and execute our skills better.”
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir, hoped his side would try to give their fans a happy parting gift. “We’re not here to spoil someone’s party,” he said. “We just want to play good cricket and try to win. We want to bat freely because pressure tends to affect you while chasing.”
Kolkata had the better of the exchanges when the two teams met last, at Eden Gardens on April 14, beating Hyderabad by 48 runs.
