Pepsi IPL 2013 Qualifier 2, Match 75: MI vs RR Live Scorecard
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat against Mumbai Indians in the second Qualifier of the Pepsi Indian Premier League 2013 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday (May 24). The winner will meet Chennai Super Kings in the final on Sunday.
The match was delayed by an hour after persistent rains left parts of the outfield wet. Despite the delay, though, a full 20-over-per-side game was possible.
Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai captain, named one change to his side, with Munaf Patel making way for Rishi Dhawan.
Rahul Dravid, the Rajasthan captain, opted to retain the same side that beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by four wickets in the Eliminator. In that game, Rajasthan were rescued by Brad Hodge’s half-century, and Dravid lauded his teammates’ ability to stand up when it mattered. “Someone’s always stepped up,” he said. “It’s been the story of our season. Every time we needed someone to stand up, someone has. We didn’t have to rely just on one or two people. It’s been a team effort.”
Mumbai come in to the game on the back of a 48-run loss to Chennai in the first Qualifier. Rohit admitted it was a setback but said the team was looking to start afresh. “We didn’t play good cricket. It was a huge target to chase, and we kept losing wickets,” he said. “But it is a new day, a fresh day. We have left everything behind and we’re looking to come out and perform.
When the two teams met a little over a week back (May 15), Mumbai beat Rajasthan by 14 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.
