A bus collided with a tanker truck in western Peru today, killing at least 20 people.

So far, officials report eight survivors, seven of whom are injured.

A local TV reporter at the scene said the bus, owned by Costena, had been travelling from Lima to Pisco, several hundred kilometres to the south, when the accident happened in the Canete area.

Local residents said they heard a loud explosion and then saw flames leaping into the sky when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, a bridge collapsed in southern Peru.
Cesar Fornet, an official with the government's highway police force, said the passengers died when the bus collided into the truck, exploding in a raging inferno.

Hello,

Any one have a suggestion as to a list of people on that bus? My brother and sister-in-law were supposed to be traveling by bus from Lima to get to Argentina. I don't know what bus or route they were taking but I would feel better if I knew they weren't on that one. I probably wouldn't be concerned as much (my brother seems indestructible) if it weren't for the fact that he called me the day before he left for Peru to let me know that if something happens to him and his wife I need to go get their kids in Peru. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank you,

K.Randall
