Many of us were disturbed and moved to action by the travesty surrounding Tori Stafford's tragic death. We posted facebook dedications, raged at the unfairness of the scrutiny the family had to go through and were extremly upset by the inadequate criteria that had to be met to classify her disappearance an abduction.

A petition for "Tori's Law" went around and was full of signatures in no time.. A review was called by provincial police commissioner Julian Fantino.

Together, Canadian citizens pushed hard for changes and it paid off.

"Under the previous criteria, police had to confirm an abduction of a child under 18 had taken place before an Amber Alert was issued. Now, he said, they only have to believe there's been an abduction"
