The Chesterfield campus of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals was hit with a noon hour shooting that prompted an immediate shut down of the entire compound.  One woman was injured and taken to hospital, but no fatalities have been reported.  Police are still looking for the suspect.

Pfizer’s Chesterfield campus is on lockdown after a lunchtime shooting Thursday inside one of the company’s buildings.

A woman working as a contractor was shot in the foot shortly after noon and transported to a nearby hospital. No word on her condition.

Police are using canines and helicopters in their search for the suspect, said Lt. Steven Lewis, a spokesman for Chesterfield Police.

No one can enter or leave the campus except law enforcement.

New York-based drug firm Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) has about 1,200 employees in research and development operations in the St. Louis area. Its Chesterfield facility, located at 700 Chesterfield Parkway West, is 900,000 square feet and includes 250 laboratories.
