Philippine Christian group airs Thanksgiving event on TV, web
Apalit, Pampanga (March 27, 2009) - A Philippine religious program airs live Members Church of God International's (MCGI) quarterly celebration of Thanksgiving to God on Wednesday, reported by its online magazine site Kaanib.net.
This is the first time that The Old Path (Ang Dating Daan) airs live portions of the Thanksgiving celebration by the group lead by the phenomenal international evangelist and MCGI presiding minister, Bro. Eliseo Soriano.
“Happy Christian New Year!,” Bro. Eli greeted everyone at the ADD Convention Center and those monitoring live via webcast. The three-day event also coincide with the celebration of New Year based on the Hebrew calendar in the Bible. "The first day of Nisan has come in calendar according to the Bible,” he added.
Bro. Eli, who has been abroad for the massive evangelization efforts, remarked via live streaming technology that his Bible Expositions abroad are now being embraced by foreign nationals. Video clippings of Bible Expositions abroad showing teary-eyed attendees while Bro. Eli preach were shown together with the testimonials of the foreign nationals who were recently-baptized.
According to Kaanib.net, more than 100,000 people were estimated to have attended the two joyful Christian festivities at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga. This is apart from figures registered in MCGI's more than 1,500 chapters locally and across the globe.
The special presentation of The Old Path was co-hosted by Bro. Danny Navales and Sis. Luz Cruz, and aired on a Philippine network UNTV Channel 37 and its website, untvweb.com.
Highlights of the three-day International Thanksgiving are the members' offering of the sacrifices of thanksgiving, singing of songs of praises, and the discussion by Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon of several sets of topics penned by the Presiding Minister.
Social media online are also utilized in this event. A blow-by-blow report on the happenings of the said event is being aired through social network utility Facebook. Online brethren actively participate and share the good news to the Facebook community, which is now considered one of the most popular social networking websites which claims to have 175 million members worldwide.
The online presence of the Ang Dating Daan recently pocketed the People's Choice Award from the Philippine Web Awards' 11th edition in February. Bro. Eli Soriano's blog, esoriano.wordpress.com, was hailed the Most Popular Website of the Year or the people's favorite in the same award giving body.

i was there too..all that very joyful and meaningful 3-day celebration..there was also free medical services which only showed the deep love and care of our ministers for us members of the true church of God. It was also a tingling moment when the brethren in Papua sang a tagalog song, as part of the Music Ministry myself I was so touched upon hearing how they sang it soulfully and wholeheartedly. I even txted my parents who were athome that time to watch our program, though they are not yet members they said that it gave them "kilabot" watching those brethren singing with our native tounge.... :))
