Are journalists meant to be shut up and finally killed? The past maybe the past, but they are bound to be repeated if they are ignored. It is time to look into journalist killings all over again, perchance there is any hope for change.

This is very saddening news. What is happening in the Philippine media is surely a sore in the country. Kudos to the journalists who really fight for the Truth.
Philippine government should wake up!

ryanborja, I like this story. It's good stuff. All the way back to 1991, I had trouble getting State Department approval to go to Tarlac (I was Military) as there were terrorists back then that had very little love for Americans in that region of the PI. It is sad to see that things are problematic for journalists there. It is a wonderful country with wonderful people. It is ashame that terrorism has taken a stronghold there.

You are right, and and even more, the problem is now a cancer. What is alarming though is that the suppression of the media people extends far far more even to the religious landscape of the country. I just hope, though am quite pessimistic on this, that the government will find a way to solve this. But as I said am pessimistic because how then would the government help someone it deemed its enemies - those who expose the truth and the problems with the system.
On the religious front though, the trouble is that the influence some powerful sect had on the government. So the result? The ones who come in their ways, expose their shenanigans and their suspect deeds can just pull or use as front its members as commodity it can just sell to politicians and government officials. Yes for the same reason, to remain and win a seat of power.
