Phoebe Prince Facebook Bullying Nightmare
Phoebe Prince was just 15 when she hung herself in her home on January 14 2010 after coming home from school and suffering a day of 'intense bullying'. Prince was not only bullied at school but also was a victim of cyber bulling when it extended to her Facebook page and text messages.
Sean Mulveyhill, 17, was Prince's former boyfriend and he has been charged with statutory rape, criminal harassment, violation of civil rights resulting in bodily injury and disturbance of a school assembly. After the couple broke up, Prince was subjected to intense bullying and name calling, as well as things being thrown at her and receiving threatening text messages from a group of 'mean girls' who thought her relationship with Mulveyhill was 'unsuitable'.
Phoebe Prince's tragic death has started talks again of an anti-bullying bill, where anti-bullying would be part of the school curriculum and bullies would be required to be reported to the police.
