Photos of US Troops Posing with Afghan Body Parts: New Scandal
US Troops Pose for Photos with Dismembered Afghan Corpse
US soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division had a simple mission: meet up with local Afghan police iris scans and fingerprints from a dismembered suicide bomber's corpse for identification purposes. That's all they had to do.
Instead, the troops posed for photos with the mutilated body. This comes at a difficult time: the US involvement in Afghanistan has been wracked by high-profile scandal after high-profile scandal.

Photos of Body Parts 'Make Afghanistan Less Safe'
A soldier from the 82nd Airborne handed the photos to the LA Times, in order to draw attention to the misconduct, which he believed led to increased overall hostility towards American ground forces in Afghanistan.
The Pentagon asked the LA Times not to publish the photos, but it's too late. You can see some of the photos via the link below: they're graphic.
Unpublished photos show two soldiers holding a dead man's hand with the middle finger raised, and "an unofficial platoon patch reading 'Zombie Hunter' next to other remains", the paper said. They were all taken in southern Zabul province, a poor area with a heavy Taliban presence, in 2010.
