Embarcadero Fire: Blaze at Pier 29

The SFFD is currently battling a four-alarm fire at Pier 29 (see map below). The Pier 29 Building is believed to have been unoccupied: it has been used for parking as Pier 29 is redeveloped for the America's Cup race.

The roof has collapsed from the Pier 29 Building. No injuries have been reported in the Embarcadero blaze, which broke out at around 2pm on June 20. You can see live video below, as well as links to eyewitness footage.

Pier 29 is on the Embarcadero at Chestnut Street: avoid that area during your evening commute. At least 150 firefighters and their equipment are on the scene. Muni riders: the F-line is getting turned around at the Ferry Building. The fire is now contained, but expect the Pier 29 area to be blocked off for hours.
