A Cause Pimp is someone who wants to make a lucrative career out of presuming to speak for people who are impeded from advocating their own cause. Here is a new web page about Toronto Cause Pimps.

Many people are angry about things in society which are unjust. They want to do something about them but they do not know how. They would like to be politically active on poverty issues and justice issues in Toronto but do not want to be manipulated, intimidated, or excluded by the local political networks.

A web site has been set up to serve these people. It is intended to perform a public service which is necessary and lacking in Toronto. If you are a person of character who would like to advance the cause of human progress and freedom in some way, you are a rare and valuable person who society needs, and who other good people need as a collaborator.

It is a tragedy when good people who want to work for a good cause are corrupted or demoralized and driven away by the cause pimps who glom onto every social issue in Toronto. People keep asking why Toronto is such a dead zone for social activism but it is not a mystery.

Cause Pimps are sometimes also called 'Poverty Pimps', 'tenant pimps', 'social advocates' or 'social police'. These are people who want to create a job or income for themselves by 'owning' a particular issue. Often they act as though someone told them they own the franchise on a particular issue for a particular area. They will treat anyone trying to do anything on their own initiative in these areas as invading their turf and threatening their revenue sources. Often people will be harassed until they turn the results of their work over to the Cause Pimp, and let him or her take the credit.

Cause pimps are usually well protected politically. Maintaining a network of cause pimps is a very good way to politically neutralize society, hence "social police". Any time a real community group tries to get off the ground, the local Cause Pimp is right in there trying to disrupt it and choke off sources of funding and support.

The aim is to create in society a flat refusal to tolerate them any more, and a demand for true democracy.

There is a malign influence which wants to keep the public in Toronto disempowered. You will find the same malign influence almost everywhere, to a greater or lesser degree. It is just stronger in Toronto than in many places.

It is easy to see the malign influence at work. But as soon as it is seen that you see the manipulation, great efforts are made to isolate you. If you call things what they are, the 'paranoid' label is hung on you.

It is widely noticed that there is all sorts of political activism going on in Toronto, but most of it deals with things going on far away from Toronto. We are supposed to worry about poverty in Africa but not on our own streets. We are supposed to worry about corrupt political processes in Iran but not in our own city.

There are many ways of explaining this away. Some say that this is because so many Torontonians are recent immigrants, who "do not know how things work in Canada". But immigrants have traditionally been the core of social movements in Canada. Many immigrants in Toronto were effective community leaders in their home countries, but are stymied in Canada.

Some say that Torontonians are simply more cautious and deferential to authority than people elswhere. This begs the question of why they are so. Is social control more pervasive in Toronto because people are more submissive to it, or are people made more submissive because the control system is more pervasive?

Did the chicken or the egg come first? The point is to challenge and push back both the passivity and the intimidation. Things are unjust in society because injustice benefits some people. These people know how to keep control over society. Activism, especially in poverty issues, is about breaking that control.

A main method of control is to allow selected people to set themselves up as speaking for everybody about some issue, when they have no right to. As well, government will give its power and money over to private, not for profit groups to run programs for poor and powerless people. These groups are harder to make responsible for the way they run the programs. So, the programs can be used to control the people they pretend to be helping.

Before you can change what should not be you have to know what should be. If we have a real democracy all government programs are run by the government and supervised by the people themselves. All people in society should have the free time and all that they need to be able to speak for themselves and to decide together what they need and to tell government to do it.

Cause pimps and their organizations preempt democracy and take over the functions of a democratic community. A principle of the Canadian ruling elite from colonial times; the family compact and its heirs, has been to prevent growth of democracy by restricting local, community based government in every way possible. Non governmental organizations in general amount to a fake public which does what our rulers want and tell them what they want to hear.

People in Toronto are becoming more aware that something must be done about the raids and the personal attacks on good people and organizations. The timorous responses, the denial, and the victim blaming must stop. The people doing these things must begin to be exposed. They are not going to like it.

This web site will be a registry of people and organizations which honest people need to be warned of. At best they can cause you to waste a lot of your time and money on goals that were not what you thought they were. At worst, they can get you followed, mobbed, assaulted, and falsely arrested.

This site will depend on volunteered information which can be verified. The main focus initially will be on poverty and housing issues, because that is where people are most powerless and most harmed by cause pimps.

This web site will also fight the cause pimps by advising people how to not be attacked and harmed by them, particularly by learning how to work together. The pimps try to control people psychologically; to make them feel guilty about what they need not feel quilty about. They also try to prevent good people from getting together with other good people; everyone has to communicate through them.

The ultimate weapon the cause pimps have is the deep social conditioning in most people that it is their responsibility to 'get along'; that they are responsible for other people's feelings. Instead, get along with those who have the emotional maturity to get along with you.

Then work together, not as 'activists', because that word implies that only a special class of people should be active. Everyone should be active citizens of a real democracy.
