Is Sudan the only place to save those refugee?! Is that the right choice?! Do UNCHR fully aware about the safety for those refugee?!

Palestinian refugees along the Iraq-Syria border are so desperate, they may accept a U.N. offer to go to Sudan, a country widely condemned for atrocities and genocide in its Darfur region.

Al Tanf camp, where 400 Palestinian refugees are living, is appalling, according to the United Nations. The camp floods regularly, has poor sanitation and problems with garbage disposal.

Thousands of Palestinians fled Iraq during the war, when they were targeted by militias. Now they are caught in limbo, denied access to both Iraq and neighboring Syria. The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees said the Palestinians would be resettled in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, away from Darfur.

Palestinians are the most vulnerable group being targeted in Iraq, said Andrew Harper, the U.N.'s Geneva, Switzerland-based senior Iraq operations manager.

"They literally have nowhere else to flee and in many cases have been denied travel documents," he said. "The international community must act now to help these people. A safe haven needs to be found immediately, outside Iraq."

I am not sure what is going on with the UN, it seems they lost their Head!

If this was to happen it could end up in a disaster! Or another disaster to be more accurate!

I suppose, UN officer didn't realized with the current condition in Sudan.

Maybe they should read the news every now and then!?

Yes, you are right...

Perhaps they should join NP!

That would be some thing, having the UNO contribute to NP!

renovatio, How is this even a possible choice, anywhere else is by far a better choice then Sudan. If they have no documents then why not have the U.N offer them asylum under a U.N. charter or sanctions of some kind. These people are refugees of war & was it not part of the design and creation of the U.N. after all to do this very act of being a potential safe haven for refugees of war?

hi everchanging,

Thank you for your comment on this story. Perhaps UN dealing with so many refugee all over the world, yet i can not accept if any reason from UN regarding those refugee in Sudan. UN should map which area is safe to handle refugee.

Let's pray for all these refugee, may god will always with them.

You may have a great point.

While the U.N has done much for countries by providing aid through security, food aid, health aid and other assistance during and after times of conflict(s) through out the world since its creation.

The current issues of these refugee is a sickening byproduct of another sovereign entity created by and from the atrocities of war that when overwhelmed by the political structure of bureaucratic member for distinction of status and prestige has done no better for peace and protection for those in humanity - then has been the creators of wars who are often lead by their our self interests and seldom leader for the betterment of humanity as a whole.
