Plane crash in Austin

A plan has crashed into a building in north Austin. Looks like an accident but I hope not to many people have been hurt.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Authorities are investigating a reported plane crash into a seven-story office building in north Austin.

Black smoke was coming from the building Thursday morning. The building is located on a major highway in the city.

A noon news report broadcast on ABC television thus far says that while investigations are ongoing, there is no suspicion of terrorism at this time.  Ironically, they also added, the FBI only recently moved their headquarters out of that building to a nearby building.  Nevertheless they are currently treating this as an accident.  At this time, there are five injured and one missing person, and no critical injuries were mentioned.

Joseph Andrew Stack of San Marcos, Texas set his house on fire (with his wife and daughter inside) before flying the plane into an IRS office.

Here's part of the suicide note that he left, you can read the rest by clicking on the CBS Link:

"I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, lets try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well."

I believe one IRS employee is still unaccounted for at this time:

Please pray 4 Jean West Wilson's well liked boss & the family, friends, and co-workers concerned for him; he's the missing IRS employee....

In reading Stack's "manifesto", here's the part that struck me:

My introduction to the real American nightmare starts back in the early ‘80s. Unfortunately after more than 16 years of school, somewhere along the line I picked up the absurd, pompous notion that I could read and understand plain English. Some friends introduced me to a group of people who were having ‘tax code’ readings and discussions. In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful “exemptions” that make institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church so incredibly wealthy. We carefully studied the law (with the help of some of the “best”, high-paid, experienced tax lawyers in the business), and then began to do exactly what the “big boys” were doing (except that we weren’t steeling from our congregation or lying to the government about our massive profits in the name of God). We took a great deal of care to make it all visible, following all of the rules, exactly the way the law said it was to be done.

Was this an act of domestic terrorism? Apparently this person had a belief that somehow he was not required to pay income tax. (Sound familiar?) He obviously was an educated man, that now admits he couldn't read and understand plain English, and yet, somehow, it is all the government's fault. His action (flying a plane into a government building), certainly looks like an attack on our system of government.
