A Plane Had to Make An Emergency Landing on I-85 on Monday After Reported Engine Failure
The plane, a single engine Piper Saratoga, caused a traffic jam on I-85 after a plane came down in the middle of the highway. It appears at this time that no one was injured on the plane or on the ground and the plane is still in one piece.
The plane came down on the southbound side near Shallowford Road according to WSB Atlanta.
Jerry Little told Channel 2 Action News anchor Jovita Moore that he witnessed the plane landing on the interstate."I saw him right in front of me," said Little. “I heard him hit the ground. I mean, it was that close.”"I started shaking ... my heart is still beating. It scared me to death."
It appears at this time that the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport was the pilot's destination as the plane went down near that location.
The plane is registered to an aircraft rental company operating out of Gainesville.
WSB-Tv viewer Maureen Onda tweeted the photo below:

I live in Winder, and I was in my back yard when I heard a backfiring sound, a looked up and a plane stalled. it then started again, so I really didnt think anything about it. As it went towards the front of my house, I heard it again backfiring or whatever it was doing, it went dead again. It then made me concerned, and I thought that if it was really in trouble, it would go to the Winder Airport in which that was the way it was coming from. I never heard it do it anymore and then later that evening, I heard about a plane landing on 85. Coincidence?? Maybe, maybe not, but I would like to find out where he was coming from.
