Scotland Yard has decided to launch an investigation into the alleged misuse of expenses by a small number of MPs and peers, the BBC has learned.

Police say its economic and specialist crime command will investigate.

Labour's David Chaytor has confirmed he is one of the MPs under scrutiny, and the BBC understands his party colleague Elliot Morley will also be interviewed.

These scum bag corrupt politicians are finally going to get charged with fraud and hopefully banned from being elected into parliament and hopefully from any public employment.

Over the past month or so we have seen how dishonest many of UK policians are and I hope we will also see scutiny of the allowances of our MEP within the EU government also.

Its nice to see the scum caught out and its of course a cross party problem and not only just the Labour party.

Justice can be sweet

Now if they can apply that same justice to China, for stealing Hong Kong..because the UK infiltrated China with Opium, we can say justice is sweet.

Actually the UK and the US caused WWII in the Pacific....because of the opium trade.. The UK got Hong Kong earlier, and the US got Japan after they dropped the A bombs on them.

I am still waiting for G. Brown to apologize to China for stealing Hong Kong...

When they handed it back to China not a word was mentioned about to why they had acquired it in the first place....and since the loss revenue from Hong Kong coffers would no langer be coming to #10 Downy Street... Tony Bliar decided to get a new Hong Kong..by supporting the lying War into Iraq....where they found no WMD.

Let's be fair yes the capture of Hong Kong was due to Opium but without British presence there Hong Kong would not be like it is today. I feel after the handing over after the lease expirered was a great gift to China, that paid 10 fold for the original explotation. Beautiful infristructure, new airport and a the greatest hub of the asian business world.

Much of what China has become to day was copied from Hong Kong and Singapore (also part of the old British Empire). Yes britain did explote the world however it improved the World and left behind education, infristructure. Remember also USA would never exist as it does to day with out the evils of British explotation. In an age when every european country was exploting the World. Britain gave civilation a boost to the biggest empire man as ever known. It handed back its empire to people that wanted their freedom and when the lease ran out in Hong Kong China was gave its best present.

Now you want Gordon Brown to say sorry to China, what for? The Opium wars or for making Hong Kong what it is today?

The British Hong Kong period began in the 19th century when the British, Dutch, French, Indians and Americans saw China as the world's largest untapped market. The British empire launched their first and one of the most aggressive expeditionary forces to claim the territory under Queen Victoria in 1840, three years after she became the queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The territory that would later be known as Hong Kong was gained from the last dynasty of Imperial China.[1]

In the short span of just a few decades, Hong Kong was transformed from a rocky undeveloped mountainous terrain to a major entrepot for global trade. Through the Opium Wars and a series of treaties, the British were able to legitimately claim the territory until 1997. Early social and economic problems did exist in the colony, as there were drastic differences between Eastern and Western philosophy and culture. Nonetheless Hong Kong seized the opportunity to become one of the first parts of East Asia to modernise.

It is hard for me to understand your logic Bob...because the Opium Trade into China caused the major war to errupt into the world. First WWI, and then WWII.  You look at it as a one dimensional entity that being because Hong Kong is so great today....you claim it was a good thing for the Bad Britian did to China.

Consider all the people killed from the Opium Wars, and the occupied territories of India where the UK grew the Opium. Consider how the UK's taking of Hong Kong spurred the reactional land grabbing by other countries that fueled imperialism into China. The US wanted ports as well in China and Asia...and is when they also introduced Opium into Japan.

France, Germany, and Russia were also in on the Opium Trade that Britain made legal in Asia... We all know what France did to the Summer Palace in China, burning it to the ground.

Germany had smarter ideas..and instead of selling Opium their German Scientist Fredrich Sueter discovered Morphine and Codeine from Opium. They made a legitimate medical drug, which threatened the UK and US hold on selling it only as a recreational drug. Germany was going to join the Ottoman Empire..which meant if they became a member they had first rights to Turkish land to grow the Poppies, negating the US rental agreement made earlier. Turkey is where the US got its Opium and they shipped it down through Iraq...into Kuwait to be transported to China.

The Arch Duke Ferdinand was helping Germany to join the Ottoman Empire, so the British enticed Serbia to stop the Arch Duke. They killed him and WWI began.

All the people killed because of Opium, and the land grabbing caused havoc in the world to the point where the World emerged into a monster devouring itself and advancing into making Atomic Bombs.

Japan invaded China's NanJing killing 300,000...You think they were fighting Chinese or the UK and the US who then controlled the Chinese Government at that time? Clearly Japan went into China to stop the Opium barrons in NanJing. We must remember that NanJing was the Capitol of China in those days...not Beijing.

Japan succeeded in getting the UK and USA out of China...Chairman Mao got rid of the US supported Kumintang and the Japanese. The Communist Government emerged.

You see Bob taking Hong Kong has a lot more to do with history than people care to think about. Thinking that the UK did something wonderful for China by bringing Opium into their country is quite naive to say the least...

I will never believe Japan had no provocation in attacking Hawaii which started the War in the Pacific. The US had bombed Japan earlier and made in roads into bringing Opium into Japan. The Japanese did not want Opium sold in their country...

Roosevelts Grandfather was an opium dealer in Canton China.

It is a travesty to think the UK has nothing to apologize for,  or the US for that matter. Now people forget about the War..as they are economically doing well....but make no mistake we still have major problems. We can say the Opium trade created Communism in China. And really Hong Kong is not really China's it is an agreement that the mainland stays out of their affairs.

There is the issue with Taiwan...where people are still active in trying to take Taiwan from China.

Time moves forward and like many things crimes go unresolved...no justice administered...no one makes waves to bring justice.

It's like sitting on a bus after you paid your fare...you notice some guy weasel on the bus through the back door, without paying the fare. What do you do? Does the passenger request the guy to pay his fare? And or lose your seat because you decided to work your way up to the front of the bus to tell the driver? No people just say nothing..dumb founded..as the guy sits back with a grin, knowing he got away his stolen ride.

That's how we are in history, nobody has the guts to tell the truth. make it right...and acknowledge that wrong doing.....
