Police have identified a woman struck by lightning and killed in Sandbridge on Sunday night. Police said her name will likely be released Monday, after family members have been notified.

Earlier in the evening, police issued a call to the media for assistance identifying the woman. Less than two hours later, spokeswoman Margie Long said she has been identified.

The woman was struck by lightning and killed around 5:20 p.m. while jogging near the waterline Sunday in off the 3200 block of Sandfiddler Road, Long said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police described her as a white female between 20 and 30 years old, about 5-feet, 7-inches tall.
