Police in London have shot a man during a planned operation in North London. Five men were also arrested during the operation and are in custody.

Police have shot a man during a planned operation in north London, Scotland Yard said on Thursday.

The man, believed to be in his twenties, was shot in Green Lanes, Haringey, shortly after midnight and is in a serious condition in hospital.

Five other men were arrested for conspiracy to rob and are being held at separate police stations.
