Police: Tornado collapses Texas retail store roof

Police say a tornado has collapsed a department store roof, overturned cars and scattered debris throughout a mall parking lot, sending several people to the hospital with minor injuries.Holmes says video from a local television station shows a tornado touched down at a Kohl's Department Store, skipped over a Wal-Mart and continued on to Parkdale Mall.

The weather channel reports

 that a local television channel

had a crew there and has a video

of the tornado.  I will check to

see if I can find it.

4:20 p.m. Stay away from Parkdale Mall, Kohl's and Wal-Mart, advised Sgt. Patrick Gurski of the Beaumont Police.

The power is intermittent around the mall, and traffic lights are out on Dowlen Road, he said.

There are no reports

of anyone being killed

by the tornado.  It is

reported that ten people

were transported to the

local hospital with non life

threatening injuries.

Beaumont Police says there were no immediate reports of serious injuries. Nearby Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital tells the Beaumont Enterprise that fewer than ten patients are there and all are in stable condition.video from a local television station shows a tornado touched down at a Kohl's Department Store, skipped over a Wal-Mart and continued on to Parkdale Mall. Bricks on one exterior wall were torn away, cars and trucks were overturned.

The residents and shoppers

were very lucky with this

tornado. While there was

some property damage no one

was killed and few were

injured.
