Update:
The Albert Einstein Hospital, located a few blocks from the government palace, said in a statement it treated 13 people who were injured in the clash, none seriously. It did not say whether they were state police officers or investigators.
Brazilian states have two separate law enforcement groups – a uniformed police force in charge of maintaining public order, and the so-called civil police who are plainclothes investigators. In some cities there are also municipal guards in charge of protecting public property.
Civilian police officers have been on strike for a month in São Paulo State, today they were chashed in a riot for the military police when the the offices moved forward in a protest against the government building in São Paulo city capital.

Riot police clashed with striking ordinary police officers in Sao Paulo as they blocked the latter from forcing their way into the state government building, live television pictures showed.
Black-clad military police were seen on Thursday massed behind riot shields, occasionally firing teargas canisters and flashbombs to keep uniformed and plainclothes civilian state police from entering the building. Other military police arrived on horseback.
At least 22 people were injured in the clash, including a military police colonel with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to media reports.
Civilian police officers in the state of Sao Paulo have been on strike for a month to demand the governor, Jose Serra, meet them to negotiate a 15 percent pay rise
