Politics plays a role in who gets the cash

I don’t know if I am saddened – or just sad that a politician comes out with such statements. All that does is just confirm that when a person becomes a politician something inside them, the person, changes.

There must be some medical study as to why this is – why, after years and years of being a standard, average human thinghy – they change into this other thinghy that is so out of touch with reality they actually think we don’t know.

We know that politics plays a role in which companies to save. Some say it is because the person running the company has paid thousands in donations to that politicians campaign fund – some say it is because that company is too big to lose. Others say it is because after drowning that company in public funds we cannot let it go out of busniess because we want the money back.

Yet – I see New Brunswick with so much potential it is scary that this potential hasn’t been exploited to the full. But guess what – and this is the kicker in all this – would the New Brunswick government guarantee the start up costs, initial running costs of a brand new business, for someone who just does not have the cash to pay out themselves?

The simple answer to that is no – not unless someone could put their house on the line ‘just in case’.

If I am wrong, then I am wrong – but I have yet to see one person who has a great idea helped by any government unless that person had perfect credit or equity or cash to play with.

There are a lot of people who are itching to start their own business, both here in New Brunswick, in Canada – even the rest of the world – yet, billions will be spent on rescuing banks and defunct car companies and not one single penny would be use to help an entrepreneur who doesn’t have the cash or house to start.

Politics may play a role, which we all know that it does, but it only plays a role when there is something in it for the politician.

We all know that part, too.
