Port Authority Bus Terminal Bomb Scare

The Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan was partially evacuated after a "suspicious package" was reported near the A/C/E subway platforms adjacent to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The package turned out to be stereo speakers tied together, left behind by a commuter.

Commuters coming into Port Authority Bus Terminal were more concerned with being late for work than yet another potential bomb (militarized police at mass transit hubs are a very common sight in New York, and, by now, not truly cause for alarm).

Tehe Port Authority Bus Terminal is now reopened.

The closing of part of the building caused a disruption for commuters in Midtown Manhattan’s morning rush. Arriving buses were allowed into the terminal’s south wing, though passengers getting off those buses were diverted toward the north wing of the terminal to exit on the street.
