Post Election Right Wing Anger
Shortly after the United States general election ended, with the voters selecting Barack Obama as President Elect, no time was wasted by those known to support the candidacy of Senator John McCain to recraft and shape news items to fit their reality.
From Right Wing Media Feed Post-Election Anger :
"They're going to take your 401(k), put it in the Social Security trust fund, whatever the hell that is," Limbaugh woofed. "Trust fund, my rear end."
A slight problem with Limbaugh's report: Obama and the Democrats have proposed no such thing.
The proposal, in fact, emanated from a single economist, one of many experts testifying to a congressional committee.
The president-elect has thus far shown as much interest in taking over your 401(k) as he has in moving the capital to Nairobi. (If you look hard, you might find that one somewhere out there in the blogosphere, too.)
To broadcast such a report -- so drained of context as to constitute a lie -- would be a shameless act at any time. But Limbaugh needlessly stirred the fears of the millions he holds in his thrall -- making the 401(k) thievery sound like nearly a done deal. Shameless.

Karen, I enjoy your writing. Lets be fair, Obama has won but it's surrogates continue to bash the GOP especially Gov Palin. Senate Clinton also went through a difficult process with the Obama folks. They left her alone following defeat. Senator McCain stepped away quietly and gracesly. President Bush is providing a smooth transition for the President Elect.. why is the left continue the bashing? You quote Limbaugh and have photos of Hannity and O'reilly in your story. These folks are not representatives of the Republican party, they are simply entertainers using politics as it's subject matter. One should separate the media from the actual party. Who within the larger GOP is bashing Obama? I know of no major candidate or Office holder doing so. Would it be appropriate for me to Quote Keith Oberman as a Party representative? I submit to you that he is much more condescending then anyone on the Right leaning media. Limbaugh is nothing more then a talk show host. He is no worse then a quick listen to Air America radio.

Al, thanks for the recommend.
I have not quoted Rush Limbaugh. The quote from him is from the LA Times.
I must say that, when comparing the so called Left, which evidently is anyone that disagrees with the Right, there is no comparison. Rush Limbaugh has called the now President Elect Obama a thug.
All of those pictured here are embraced and upheld as legitimate spokespersons for the Right Wing movement, whether they are entertainers or not.
Fox News is extolled as a beacon among networks by the Right Wing, where O'Reilly and Hannity have their shows, a view not shared by everyone.
I did not identify any of those pictured as official representatives or spokespersons for the Republican Party.

Rush calling PE Obama a thug is totally wrong. Fox News is considered the most balanced of all the networks in the election. Hannity has been hard on Obama and he should have quit his rhetoric a long time ago. O'Reilly is more balanced then one would think. He has worked within Oprah on Child issues. He does take an attack method. When I speak of the Balance of Fix, I am not speaking about the night time shows as NBC takes issue with them being lumped with Oberman and others. All in all, no matter what side of the issues we fall on.. It is time for all of us to get off the attacks and focus on America's needs right now. You will not hear me call Obama names. I will call his actions into question as a Political commentator.

Merchants of fear and division cannot be held back by such minor things as truth. You can expect the slime level actually to escalate.
The panderers of hate probably know that an Obama victory was the best thing to happen to them. Should McCain have won and continued the failed Bush policies, their ratings would have fallen through the floor as another GOP White House would have taken down the economy and what's left of our prestige in this world.
Remember how much fun these sleazeballs had with Clinton? Now, they can play a race card as well, and, believe me, they will.
After all, they all have proven there is money beyond belief in bigotry and hatred.
at 09:44 on November 11th, 2008
Dunkelberg, I am surprised that you cannot see that hate is not just a GOP tool. Obama mentioned the race card, show me where McCain or Palin EVER used it.

Oh Cmon! Thanks for recognizing the Veterans. As you know I am a Gulf War Veteran. I appreciate that. Your a vet too I think, Thanks for your service, No matter our views thanks. I guess when it all comes down to it.. we all love America.

Look, if people like Bill O'Reilly are simply entertainers, put them on comedy central. They have titles that say "we speak for the GOP". Don't like it? Change it. Keith may have a similar forum, but to my knowledge hasn't spread untruthful propaganda. I am alright with calling him A voice of the left.
And take note of Congressman Paul Broun. He brandishes something that is not only pathetic, but dangerous - "In my opinion, we've elected a Marxist to be president of the United States". Let's not forget about all the Jeremiah Wright nonsense. Republicans are shutting up because they saw their party's failure to meet public interest. The message was obviously profound during this years election - Republicans need to reevaluate. They have been humbled, don't mistake that for moral highground. I feel as though my patriotism has been discredited for a LONG time. I am not of them who gloat, but I can understand it even if I dont agree with it.

One can tell about an individual by the people he surrounds himself with. In any assessment in a psychological profile ones engagements are a good indicator of how one behaves. It is something that is taught in every school of psychology. Lets be clear, Obama states in his book that he chose his friends carefully, he then goes on to tell about their belief systems. If you haven't read his works then you would do well to do so. It surprises me that folks have taken this man only by his campaign. The campaign is not the man he describers in his own books. Read them and get back to me. He stated that some of them were Marxist. It is not the right who came up with that, it was from Obama's own words. Are you not aware of this?
I am hopeful that he will not govern from the failed policies of Marxism or socialism. I am looking forward to some sign that he will work with others. We shall see.

....good article..well writen, short and articulate...I would support such a move to protect 401 ks for the sake of securing them against the current administrations foray into experimenting and turning a blind eye to the rescent example of Pres. Bu$h's version of "Casino Royale" ala Wall Str. (2008). A lil' insurance is worth it...."Whoops may have to rethink that thought..*ahem*..(AIG)...technically it was sound in the past...hmmmm!
As far as "Limbo" and "Bilbo" go any liberal (open minded and flexible thoughts) is socialist or communistic and will blame anyone to raise my "red neck" hackles "PREPARE FOR 2012!" is now their call to arms How appropriate on "Rememberance/Veteran's Day"...but I do enjoy their rants in the same light as Colber, Stewart, and Olbermann. "Why are these guys so addicting? "
at 09:58 on November 11th, 2008
I enjoyed your comment up to the point you started name calling. Is it possible on a News site to refrain from calling folks names like Limbo and bilbo? You then go on to call the left leaners by their proper names. Do you not see the bias in your own words?
at 10:37 on November 11th, 2008
...sorry...is "bias" against "bias", "Biased"?....Or, by defintion, of being "liberal" with bias against "anti-liberalism" (which these two "Fox" associates have admitted to be), being closed mined to their ideology ( to put it mildly, which seems to me to be bordering on bigotry)....Must be a Fruedian slip in my "Olberman-esia" or "O'Reilly-phobia"...ewww new words for lexiographers..."COINED HERE!" ;D...Dear Erin Mckean... I hug my dictionary, but my creative writing text...not so much.

This should be a time for unity. The election is over now, and whether or not one's candidate won, democracy won. This is something we should all be pleased about. We are not enduring weeks of discussions about stolen elections, like some expected. The Supreme Court was able to stick to court business after this election. America saw a clear victory for President-elect Obama, and every one of us will have a new president and administration come January.
Understandably, some people need time to adjust to CHANGE, but America has seen radical change before and managed to adjust to it, for the most part. When I consider how at age five, I used to wait with my grandmother while all the white people (who arrived at the bus depot after us) loaded the Greyhound to Memphis, I know how far we have come as a nation. Even people who do not appreciate the changes the civil rights movement brought have adjusted to the fact that no one is relegated to the back of the bus any longer at Greyhound. By the time we have our third or fourth black president, the fallout from this election will appear even more absurd than it does now.
See what some Mississippi school kids are going through for even saying Obama's name at this link:

Great article, as usual, Karen!

Mary, Very well put. We all should allow the newly elected President to at least be sworn in. I am hopeful that these attacks stop on both sides. Those on the left that don't think they are doing some of the same things they are blaming Conservatives for should take the log out of their own eye so that they can see clearly to take the speck out of others eyes.

Right wing anger? No offense almost all of your stories consist of putting down the right. Sounds like a whole lot of left wing anger.
at 11:35 on November 11th, 2008
I did not select the characterization attributed to anger nor is the article one I wrote.
at 11:58 on November 11th, 2008
...that's ok luv, it's thought provoking and titillating, although the comments are more temperant than that of the Market Watch community...Good topic and excellent responses. Very enjoyable and soul rending for some..as you can tell.

have any of these lying rightwing blowhards criticized Obama's proposed staff and cabinet? "Radical" my ass; most of them have a history of shilling for war and corporate america.
Obama Mania by Stephen Lendman
Already, insider shills like Biden and Brzezinski have been hinting that Obama will be "tested", that AlCIAduh will be launching another attack on the US, and this will mean Obama is required to put his platform on hold in order to fight the fake "war on terror", which is really a war on American's Rights, and Peoples who live in nations with geostrategic resources.
I'm relieved that McCain didn't win, and as many of these so-called "elites" support Net Neutrality and investing in green energy, some good may result from an Obama Administration, but if you want peace and justice you're gonna have to keep working for it.
at 10:38 on November 11th, 2008
Erik, Have you not looked at Obama's new Chief of Staff? Can I say the words Freddie Mac or Fannie Mai here? Get real.. you should follow the money and see that some on the left take big bucks from wall street, banks, finance, mortgage etc. Bottom line? The left is all for bailouts for their supporters. Throw big oil at me and I will throw you a list of Pharms, Legals, and Finance.
at 11:42 on November 11th, 2008
OH,OH , Let's throw the notables ( I wont "bias" myself by calling them "notorious") "Haliburton" and "Blackwater" into the mix....ewwww can we saunter about "Warren Buffet's" name and that of "Google's" Ceo now too...hmmmm...maybe not their still making money. What would they know... silly me.. and my Obamatitest?

Oh yes, this is the kind of thing that really didn't surprise me! What else do they have to do now anyway? They lost and they know that it will be a HUGE STRUGGLE to reshape the Republican Party!
